How we build it
A driveway is the hardest-working paver surface on your property. A patio holds furniture and foot traffic; a driveway holds a vehicle or two, every day, in full Brevard County sun. That changes how we build it. The compacted base under a driveway goes down thicker than it would under a patio, built in lifts and compacted layer by layer, because the load it carries isn't people — it's axle weight, turning tires, and the occasional delivery truck. From Titusville down to Palm Bay, driveway paving is base work first: the part of the job you never see is the part that decides whether the surface stays flat or starts rutting where the wheels track.
The apron — where the driveway meets the street — takes the worst of it. Tires turn hardest there, sprinkler overspray keeps it damp, and it's where a weak edge shows first, which is why our edge restraint gets anchored into the compacted base, not the sand. Once the pavers are down, sealing is the second half of the job: Florida sun bakes color out of unsealed pavers, and a sealed surface makes oil drips and tire marks easier to clean up than a raw one. It helps, and we'll be straight about how much. Nothing makes a paver driveway stain-proof — a car that drips will leave a mark on any surface. What sealer does is close off the paver so oil sits on top longer instead of soaking straight in, which gives you a real chance to clean it up. Unsealed pavers drink a drip in and hold it.
Yes. We seal driveways other companies installed — that's a normal part of the work, not a special request. The process doesn't change: clean the surface, let it get completely dry, re-sand the joints with polymeric sand, then seal. Dry matters most — sealer over damp pavers clouds, and there's no spot-fixing that. If yours has gone chalky from the sun, cleaning and a wet-look finish deepen the color that's left, but sealing earlier gives the color a better shot.
Plan on roughly every 2-3 years. A driveway tends to land toward the shorter end of that range compared to a patio — full sun most of the day, tires working the surface, sprinkler overspray at the apron. The honest signal is looking, not counting years: when water stops beading and the color starts flattening out, it's time. We'll tell you if yours isn't ready yet.
