Suntree's mature trees and older driveways mean we're often replacing something that's already failing — we dig past root intrusion and old subbase before we ever set a paver.

We compact the new base in lifts, screed about an inch of bedding sand, and fasten edge restraint into that compacted base rather than the sand itself, since a driveway takes far more load than a thick patio ever will. On lots near mature trees we also route drainage around root zones so runoff doesn't pool against them.
